On my T42, I don't try to be fancy with switching between wired and wifi. I set up the adapter for the wired and then copied \ibmcom\protocol.ini to \ibmcom\protocol.wire. I then set up the adapter for wifi and copyied \ibmcom\protocol.ini to \ibmcom\protocol.wifi.
