X-List-Unsubscribe: Send email to mailusers-request@2rosenthals.com X-List-Owner: mailusers-owner@2rosenthals.com Alright. I found out what the problem was, it was me. I had a mixed case in the SSID on the AP and that's why it couldn't connect. When it did connect, the SSID was displayed but the question was is it the SSID as it got from the network or the SSID that was entered, I would take a guess that it is not from the network and is only redisplaying the SSID that was input and the reason is next. I setup a second wireless network without any encryption, etc. It will find that network with the ANY parameter in the SSID, but does not display the SSID of the network that it connected to, which is a shortcoming of the software, it displayed 'non-specified'. There doesn't seem to be any way to view all available networks like in Windows, that is a shortcoming. In a recent review in the NYTimes on wireless enabled PDA's they like the ones that showed which networks were available (all windows based) since they suggested that go get good coverage you may have to subscribe to several, there may not actually be a sign or notation saying that a network is available (as is the case in Free WiFi or even Starbucks-Cingular) and without a way to list available networks you may not know that you are in range of one or more. Jeff Race recently asked about this as he travels frequently between Mass and Vietnam/Thailand I believe, and didn't want to subscribe to any services until he was comfortable that there was available service along his route, and as a result was looking for a way to detect networks. Not having to carry an extra piece of equiptment would be nice. Also not being able to actually see which channel you are connected with and have any control over which channel to use is also a short coming, I believe. But then, when you are setting up multiple AP do you use the same or different channels? What is the industry practice? Now, if I could figure out why I can't start the Requestor, for file and print services, I would be fine. Stan Sidlov http://www.warpstock.org Warpstock 2003 in San Francisco!
