Orest,

 > use MAC filtering on the router

I'm just at this point with my setup. I've enabled the 128-bit encryption
but  was wanting to filter by MAC addresses. Being that I have only one
wireless  machine, it shouldn't be too difficult but I don't know yet how
to begin. I  see within the configuration options for my 2Wire 1000SW WAP
that I can change  the designation of the router's address and assign an
address to my laptop via  a range of DHCP addresses but I haven't yet
figured out what specifically I  need to do.

2Wire's tech support will help you to a point of your own ignorance <G> but
they won't volunteer much else, so I was thinking that if I had a "road
map"  of what I intended and spoke as if I knew exactly what I was doing
then they  might talk me through it on the phone. What do I need to do
generally?
