I'm in the middle of a the above book right now, which so far has been a wealth of information both about the history of the 802.11 standard and a practical guide about setting up small Wi-Fi networks. As a consultant out in the trenches, it's good to get some field reports about how others go about doing site surveys (for what they're worth!), bridging/roaming techniques, and even the usefulness (or lack thereof; still not convinced) of ad-hock mode. Also, it's amazing to read how far short the current 802.11 specs come infosar as covering ad-hock, bridging, roaming, etc. He also devotes four chapters to security, which I haven't reached as yet.

Anyway, a few links:

A couple other books which may be interesting to folks here (I purchased these, but haven't had a chance to read them yet), both from O'Reilly (http://www.oreilly.com/):
802.11 Wireless Networks, by Matthew S. Gast
802.11 Wireless Security, by Bruce Potter and Bob Fleck
