Just jumping into the conversation ...

I use the IBM PCCard wireless, with Jen's drivers (RC3), so the first 
condition is met. I have an SMC 2804WBR wireless router. Does the latter 
work "inefficiently". It does have an option to restrict signons to 
specified MACs, and I leave that configured, but that I think is not 
quite the same issue.
