ORiNOCO is a brand name (marque) of 802.11 products formerly owned by 
Agere Systems. Agere sold its 802.11 division to Proxim Corp in mid-2002 
for $65M. So, in fact, your Agere chipset is indeed ORiNOCO. See

You weren't fooled (at least not by Mensys), Kris. Agere probably modded 
the chip a bit in that build they OEM'd to Artem.
