Subject: [OS2Wireless] Setting up ADSL wireless router

As with everything, the configuration depends upon what you want to do.

If you want to use your remaining static address for Wi-Fi, then I would try setting it to bridged mode and use XWLAN to set the static address for the interface.

If you want to use DHCP for Wi-Fi, then select routed mode and let the ASUS route your wireless connection to your statically addresses LAN (and the internet).

The problem here, of course, is the lack of a true standard when it comes to terminology. For LinkSys, bridged mode means bridged to another AP, hence my statement about "trying" to bridge the Wi-Fi using bridged mode in the ASUS box.

I've had my ASUS ADSL wireless router for several years but only ever used the ethernet interface which works fine, but I thought I'd set it up to see if I can use it for wireless access...

The first choice in the configuration is WLAN Mode with options for

None
Bridged Mode
Routed Mode

I have an allocation of 5 static IP addresses one of which is used by the router and three others my machines on the network

Any advise on what I should choose will be welcomed.
