The only thing I touched via MPTS was the card set up properties - where you specify the SSID etc. I manually changed mptn/bin/setup.cmd to dhcp start lan1. When I switched back, from a working connection I just started XWLAN and it killed the connection and thereafter, as per usual, just said searching.
