Exactly. I couldn't have said it better myself. The follow on to this 
will be a brief discussion of captive portals for authentication at 
hotspots, linked to a question concerning why one may not be able to 
simply boot up and check for mail (because one may need to authenticate 
to the captive portal via a browser window, first).
