There are only two things that you really really need to 'know' and that is:
1. How does network addressing affect my finding another computer on the net? And what
effect does masks have on it.
2. How do I turn on DHCP Server and Client on my router/server and clients?
3. How do I share files between computers on the same or different network?
If these ARE what you are really asking, then we can all point you in the right direction.
